We are ecstatic to announce that UBC Nursing’s 2025 VSP Experience is just around the corner! Make sure that you’re ready for it 🤭 For those of you partaking in this exhilarating program, here are some things that you can do to ensure full preparation ⬇
1️⃣ Keep watch over your email – we may be sending some important information over the next few weeks so make sure you’re on top of your messages!
2️⃣ For what to expect for your expenses, refer to https://vancouversummerprogram.ubc.ca/apply-now/fees-and-expenses/ for a sample budget 💸
3️⃣ Visit https://www.theweathernetwork.com/en/city/ca/british-columbia/vancouver/14-days for live updates on Vancouver’s weather so that you can pack appropriate clothing 👕
4️⃣ Perhaps familiarize yourself with our ‘compass card’/transit system as that will be your main mode of transportation (although we will cover this again at orientation) 🚄
5️⃣ Get excited!! We know that leaving home for a month may be daunting for some, but here at UBC, we are all family. This is a fantastic opportunity to not just learn abroad, but also to make some incredible memories/friendships with people from around the world! 🕺

Introduction to Mental Health: Explore mental health from prenatal development to older adulthood. Learn about risk factors, protective strategies, and evidence-based approaches to treatment and prevention.
Strategies to Manage Stress in Everyday Life: Master practical stress management techniques and resilience-building strategies to boost your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
Both courses offer a unique, condensed format that makes complex topics accessible—perfect for students from all disciplines.

The VSP Nursing Program is offering two exciting courses that dive into the aging process and hands-on caregiving as part of Package A: Seniors’ Health and Caregiving!
Introduction to Seniors’ Health: Gain a deeper understanding of aging, common health challenges, and best practices for supporting seniors’ well-being.
Introduction to Caring for Seniors at Home and in the Community: Learn how to support seniors in their own homes by exploring practical tips for creating safe and supportive environments.
Both courses feature field trips, expert guest speakers, and valuable hands-on experience that will give you a solid foundation in senior care!
Last year’s UBC Nursing VSP students had an incredible time exploring the wonders of nature at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum! With over 500 exhibits and hands-on activities, it was a trip filled with discovery and learning.
